House of Bidenomics: the Midwesterners who voted for inflation

July 22, 2024

Since 2021, inflation has raged like wildfire across the country. Soaring prices consume the checkbooks and savings of millions of Americans.

Why did this happen? Reckless government spending. Washington pumped billions of dollars into the economy, which made your money worth less and your bills go up.

At first, Washington spent trillions during the COVID-19 pandemic; then President Joe Biden added fuel to the fire by authorizing $6 trillion in extra spending thanks in great part to bills like the Inflation Reduction Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the American Rescue Act, and the CHIPS Act.

However, Biden is not the only out-of-touch Washington politician responsible for inflation.  He needed Congress’ support to turn Bidenomics from a bad idea into painful reality. We already introduced the Bidenomics Five who influenced these laws in the Senate; now, we’ll talk about those who did the same in the House of Representatives.

Pro-Bidenomics lawmakers from the Northeast, Midwest, and West are making your life more expensive with their votes. Some voted for the four Bidenomics bills; others opposed pro-freedom legislation like the Lower Energy Costs Act, and Congressional Review Act to overturn Bidenomics policies like the student loan bailout or EPA power grabs.

These lawmakers turned the House of Representatives into the House of Bidenomics, and Americans pay the price daily.

Here are the midwestern Representatives (and two southerners) who voted for Bidenomics:

Rep. Eric Sorenson, from Illinois

Eric Sorenson staunchly supports the policies that have left the American economy in shambles. Thanks to Sorenson’s votes for Bidenomics, Illinoisans are now paying:

  • $3,561 more on food since January 2021
  • $6,432 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,112 more on energy since January 2021
  • $9,221 more on transportation since January 2021

For Sorenson, Bidenomics comes first, and his constituents come second.

Rep. Frank Mrvan, from Indiana

Frank Mrvan’s unwavering support for Bidenomics has hit Indiana residents hard. Because of Mrvan’s votes, Hoosiers are facing:

  • $3,452 more on food since January 2021
  • $6,321 more on housing since January 2021
  • $4,957 more on energy since January 2021
  • $9,112 more on transportation since January 2021

Thanks to Mrvan and Bidenomics, Hoosiers pay more and get less.

Rep. Sharice Davids, from Kansas

Sharice Davids is a firm supporter of Bidenomics, which has driven up costs for Kansans. Thanks to her votes, residents are now paying:

  • $3,618 more on food since January 2021
  • $6,455 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,204 more on energy since January 2021
  • $9,305 more on transportation since January 2021

Davids is happy for her constituents to pay the price of Bidenomics.

Rep. Elissa Slotkin, from Michigan

Elissa Slotkin’s strong backing of Bidenomics has significantly increased living costs for Michiganders. Due to her votes, they’re paying:

  • $3,514 more on food since January 2021
  • $6,598 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,093 more on energy since January 2021
  • $9,175 more on transportation since January 2021

Slotkin has prioritized Biden’s economic agenda over the needs of Michigan families.

Reps. Greg Landsman, Marcy Kaptur, and Emilia Sykes from Ohio

The pro-Bidenomics votes from these three representatives have made life more expensive for Ohioans. Because of their votes, residents are facing:

  • $3,481 more on food since January 2021
  • $6,321 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,082 more on energy since January 2021
  • $9,045 more on transportation since January 2021

Landsman, Kaptur, and Sykes are pro-Bidenomics, and Ohioans pay the price for it.

Rep. Don Davis, from North Carolina

Don Davis has supported Bidenomics, contributing to increased living costs for North Carolinians. Due to Davis’s votes, residents are now paying:

  • $3,594 more on food since January 2021
  • $7,012 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,184 more on energy since January 2021
  • $10,412 more on transportation since January 2021

Davis’s love for Bidenomics costs his constituents thousands of dollars every year.

Rep. Darren Soto, from Florida

Darren Soto has been a strong advocate for Bidenomics, resulting in increased costs for Floridians. Thanks to Soto’s votes, residents are now paying:

  • $3,632 more on food since January 2021
  • $7,054 more on housing since January 2021
  • $5,206 more on energy since January 2021

Soto’s steadfast support for Bidenomics brings much pain to his constituents.
