Battling Bidenomics: Get the latest on our fight against bad economics.

Bidenomics hurts Montanans, here are their stories

August 20, 2024

“What was good four years ago, is no good today”

Steve, Becky, and Ray might all be Montanans, but they all have very different lives. Steve is a small business owner, Becky is a full-time mom and Ray is a retiree. Their lives might be different but they have something in common: Bidenomics has upended their finances and lives.

Over the last few years, lawmakers in Washington D.C. have spent trillions of dollars irresponsibly. Regretfully, Montana has paid handsomely for these bad policies, with the average Montanan paying  $29,799 more since 2021 just to maintain their same lifestyle.

President Joe Biden might lend his name to Bidenomics, but he would not have got his dangerous economic ideas turned into law without the support of the Senator from Montana, Jon Tester.

Tester, along with four other lawmakers, were the key votes in support of the four bills that are the core of Bidenomics.

Montanans feel every day the disastrous consequences of Tester-endorsed Bidenomics. Here are their stories

Steve, small business owner

“Last year was kind of a loss for us”

The owner of a cabling and network business, Steve built his business from the ground up and became a key actor in his community’s economy.

“I’ve prided myself as an owner to never laid a person off. No matter how bad it got, no matter how slow it got. I’m going to raise their wages, regardless, and try not to raise prices for our customers.”

However, Bidenomics is making it hard for stand up, committed business owners like Steve to thrive and help their employees to prosper too.

Costs are up across the board, forcing Steve to make an impossible decision: either keep prices low to attract customers but lose money or raise prices to stay afloat but lose customers.

“I’m a small business owner. I work hard every day, not just for my family but for my employees. But Bidenomics is making it more difficult to make ends meet. This inflation is impacting our community and the last thing I want is to raise prices for my customers. Jon Tester voted for this and now Americans are struggling as a result.”  Steve told us..

Becky, full-time mom

Becky is a full-time mother of seven. Raising kids is tough, but Bidenomics made it even ten times harder.

“Things have gotten to expensive for families like ours (…) I’ve been lucky to stay home raising all our kids, if inflation doesn’t change. I see me having to enter the workforce, that would be a big change for us.

Americans are spending more than $11,400 more per year to buy the same goods as in 2021. For Becky, Bidenomics is not just a term, but a reality threatening to upend their family.

Ray, retiree

A 73-year-old retiree, Ray has lived in his house for 43 years. He has seen the entire town grow around their house.  Just like most Americans, Ray worked hard and saved money for his retirement to enjoy his hard-earned retirement in peace and tranquility.

Until Bidenomics happened.

“All of a sudden, Bidenomics comes along. We either had to take money out of our home or get back to work. I decided to go back to work.”
